San Juan Lava Field
PR LP 14.1
A visit to the lava fields is an absolute "must" in La Palma. However, due to its sharp and pointy nature, the lava fields are not without dangers. In order to avoid injuries and damage to the environment, it is important to stay on the designated path whenever possible.
There is a brief stretch of difficult terrain on the way back, specifically the section descending into Llano de Tamanca, which is narrow and very steep. Stable hiking shoes are strongly recommended.
